How to schedule Threads posts
5 November 2026 · 4 min read
Threads rewards posting often and joining in, which is hard to keep up between serving customers. Scheduling the regular posts means the account keeps talking on busy days, and your own time goes on the replies, which is where Threads is won. There are two ways to do it.
1. In Threads itself
Threads can hold a post for later: while writing it, open the options in the post box, choose to schedule, and pick a date and time. It is free and fine for a post or two a week when Threads is the only place you post.
2. With a scheduler
A scheduler earns its place when Threads is one of several networks, or when you want the week planned in one sitting beside Instagram and the rest. Our guide to the best Threads schedulers compares the tools that reach it and what they cost.
Get the post right before it is queued
- A Threads post holds 500 characters, so an Instagram caption rarely fits as it is. Check a draft with our free character counter.
- Text on its own is normal on Threads; not every post needs a picture.
- A question or a clear opinion gets replies where an announcement gets scrolled past.
- A carousel can mix photos and videos, so a clip and a few photos from one job can go out together.
The same news, not the same words
Threads sits beside Instagram on the same account, so it is tempting to paste the caption across. Give Threads its own shorter, plainer version instead: it reads like conversation. Our post on repurposing one idea into a week of content covers how to adapt a post for each platform.
