How to schedule Bluesky posts

5 November 2026 · 4 min read

Bluesky is young, and an account that posts steadily now is building an audience while most businesses are not there yet. Scheduling is how a small team keeps that rhythm without opening another app every day.

1. In the Bluesky app

Bluesky's own app is built for posting now rather than later. That is fine for joining a conversation as it happens, but to write the week's posts in one sitting you need a tool that connects to your account.

2. With a scheduler

Few social tools post to Bluesky yet, so check before you sign up. Our guide to the best Bluesky schedulers lists the ones that do and which fits which job.

Connect with an app password

A Bluesky scheduler should ask for an app password, not your main one. You make it in Bluesky's settings, give it a name such as the tool's, and can revoke it there at any time without changing your real password.

Get the post right before it is queued

  • A Bluesky post holds 300 characters, and an emoji counts as one. Check a draft with our free character counter.
  • A post takes up to four images or one video, not both.
  • Write alt text for every image. Many people on Bluesky read it, and it is how a picture gets found.
  • Link to the full article rather than squeezing it in; Bluesky shows a card for the link.

When to schedule them

Bluesky's Following feed shows posts in the order they were made, so a few spread through the week keeps you in view better than a burst. Our post on how often to post on social media covers the rhythm.
