How to schedule Pinterest Pins

5 November 2026 · 4 min read

Pinterest rewards a steady flow of fresh Pins far more than a burst once a month, and a Pin keeps sending people to your site for months after it goes up. That makes it one of the best platforms to schedule. There are two ways to do it.

1. On Pinterest's website

When you create a Pin on Pinterest's website with a business account, you can choose to publish it at a later date rather than straight away. It is free and fine for a few Pins a week to one account.

2. With a scheduler

A scheduler earns its place when Pinterest is one of several networks, or when you want a month of Pins planned at once. If Pinterest drives most of your traffic, a specialist built around it may suit you better. Our guide to the best Pinterest schedulers says which is which.

Get the Pin right before it is queued

  • Every Pin is built around an image, so a Pin needs one.
  • Tall images, around 2:3, take the most room in the feed.
  • Write the description for search: say what the Pin shows in the words people would type. It holds 500 characters. Check a draft with our free character counter.
  • Add the link to the page the Pin is about. That link is what keeps sending visitors.
  • Choose the board that fits. A Pin on the right board is easier to find.

Keep the flow going

A few Pins every week beats twenty in one afternoon. Pins about products and seasonal ideas can be planned well ahead, so a month at a time is realistic. Our guide to Pinterest for e-commerce covers what to pin.
