Optimate vs Sprout Social
Sprout Social is an enterprise social suite priced per seat, combining publishing with a unified inbox, social listening, sentiment analysis and deep reporting.
We make this comparison as a competitor, so read it with that in mind. Everything below is checked against Sprout Social’s own published pricing, and the sections where Sprout Social is the better choice are real ones — not throat-clearing.
Who each one is for
Choose Sprout Social if…
Larger teams that need a genuine unified inbox, listening and sentiment analysis, and can justify per-seat pricing that starts at $199/seat/month on Standard.
Choose Optimate if…
Small teams and agencies who priced Sprout, found it ran to five figures a year, and use maybe a third of what it does.
Pricing side by side
Each product is shown in the currency it actually bills in. We deliberately don’t convert these into one currency — the rate moves, and a converted figure would misrepresent what Sprout Social charges.

Where Sprout Social is the better choice
These are real limitations of Optimate, not softened ones. If any of them is a dealbreaker for you, Sprout Social is the right answer.
A mature unified inbox
Sprout's inbox pulls comments and messages across networks into one queue with assignment and workflow around it. Optimate's is in development and not released. If managing inbound conversation is a core part of the job, Sprout does it today and Optimate does not.
Listening and sentiment analysis
Monitoring brand conversation and scoring sentiment are core Sprout capabilities with no Optimate equivalent at any tier.
Enterprise reporting and integrations
Sprout's reporting depth, CRM integrations and team workflow are built for organisations with formal processes around social. Optimate is deliberately lighter, which is a limitation as well as a design choice.
Where Optimate is the better choice
The cost difference is order-of-magnitude
Sprout Standard is $199 per seat per month. A four-person team is roughly $9,550 a year. Optimate Pro is £29/month for the workspace with seats unmetered. Whether that gap is justified depends entirely on whether you use listening and the inbox.
AI content generation with real volume
Sprout includes 100 AI agent credits per seat per month. Optimate Pro covers roughly 1,000 captions or 200 images, generated against a saved brand kit.
You can evaluate it for nothing
Optimate's free tier covers 3 profiles indefinitely. Sprout has no free plan.
Common questions
Can Optimate replace Sprout Social?
For publishing, content creation and reporting on your own performance, often yes — at a fraction of the cost. For social listening, sentiment analysis and inbound conversation management, no. Sprout does those and Optimate doesn't, and if they're why you bought Sprout you should keep it.
Why is Sprout Social so expensive?
It's priced per seat for an enterprise buyer, and the price carries listening, a unified inbox, sentiment analysis, deep reporting and integrations. Teams that use all of it get value from it. Teams using it mainly to schedule are paying for a lot they don't touch.
Does Optimate have a unified inbox?
Not yet — it's in development and not released. Sprout's is mature. We'd rather say that plainly than describe a roadmap item as though it shipped.
