Scheduling many posts from a spreadsheet

Upload a CSV to schedule a month of posts in one go, with every row checked before anything is created.

Bulk upload turns a spreadsheet into scheduled posts. Each row is one post, and a file can hold up to 200 of them. It is part of every paid plan and the free trial.

How to upload

  1. Open the Planner and choose Bulk upload from a spreadsheet, under the calendar.
  2. Download the template, so the column names are exactly right.
  3. Fill in one row per post and save the file as CSV.
  4. Upload it. Optimate checks every row and shows you a preview, with anything it can't schedule marked on its row.
  5. Fix any rows it flags, then schedule. Nothing is created until you confirm.

The columns

  • caption — the text of the post. Required.
  • platforms — where it goes, for example facebook or facebook;linkedin for more than one. Required.
  • scheduled_for — the date and time, for example 2026-10-06 09:30. Dates written with slashes are read day first (DD/MM). Times are read in your account's time zone. Required.
  • media_url — optional. The name of a picture or video, for example launch.jpg — add those files together with the spreadsheet (pick or drop them all at once) and each is uploaded when you schedule. A link to a file already stored in Optimate works too. Links to other websites are refused, because the platforms need a file they can reliably fetch.
  • accounts — optional. If you have more than one account on a platform (two Facebook Pages, say), name the one this row is for. Separate several with a semicolon. Leave it blank and the row goes to your default account for each platform, which the preview names before you confirm.

The preview runs the same checks as the composer: that the platform is connected, that it gets the media it needs (Instagram and Pinterest need an image, TikTok and YouTube a video), and that the caption fits. A row that passes the preview will schedule.

Frequently asked

What's the most I can upload at once?

200 posts per file. A row that names several accounts counts once for each account. Split a bigger plan across two files.

Can I edit posts after uploading them?

Yes. They are ordinary scheduled posts, so you can edit, reschedule or cancel any of them from Scheduled Posts or the Planner until they publish.
