Sending posts to a client for approval

Hold a client's posts until they approve them from a no-login review link, or ask for changes.

With client approval on, posts you schedule for that client wait for them to approve before they publish. Your client reviews them on a web page — no account, no login.

What your client sees: the post, and Approve or Request changes.

Turn it on

  1. Switch to the client, then open Brand.
  2. In Client approval, turn on Require client approval before posts go live. (The section appears once you have more than one client brand, and always on Agency.)
  3. Add the client's email address and Optimate emails them when posts are waiting, at most once an hour. Or leave it blank and send them the review link yourself.
  4. Copy the review link and share it with your client.

What your client can do

  • Approve a post. It then publishes at its scheduled time — or on the next publishing run, if the time has already passed.
  • Ask for changes, with a note or the wording they'd prefer. The post stays held, and you're told what they asked for.

A post that is waiting for approval, or that the client has asked to change, never publishes on its own.

Managing the link

  • Turning approval off pauses the link; turning it back on restores the same link.
  • New link replaces the link straight away — use it if the old one reached someone who shouldn't have it.
  • Tick teammates as reviewers and the client's approvals and feedback reach them by email as well as you.
  • On Agency, each person at your client can have their own review link, so the approval history shows who approved what, and the review page and emails can carry your agency's logo and name instead of Optimate's.

Frequently asked

Does turning approval on affect posts I've already scheduled?

No. It applies to posts scheduled for that client after you turn it on.

Does my client need an Optimate account?

No. The review link is all they need. Anyone who has the link can review, which is why you can replace it at any time.
