Reconnecting an account that stopped working

Why a connected account can stop accepting posts, how Optimate tells you, and how to reconnect it.

A connection can stop working when you change your password on the platform, remove Optimate's access from the platform's settings, or the platform asks for permission again. Until it's reconnected, posts to that account will fail.

Optimate checks every connected account each morning, and again whenever a platform rejects a post. When a connection has broken, the account's card in Connections says Needs reconnecting and we email you once.

How to reconnect

  1. Open Connections from the sidebar.
  2. Find the account marked Needs reconnecting and choose Reconnect.
  3. Sign in to the platform and approve the permissions. For Facebook and Instagram, choose the same Pages as before.
  4. Back in Optimate, the card shows Connected again.
  5. Open Scheduled Posts and retry anything that failed in the meantime.

Frequently asked

Do I lose my scheduled posts when an account disconnects?

No. They stay in Scheduled Posts. Anything whose time passed while the account was broken will show as failed — retry it once you've reconnected.
