Optimate vs Hootsuite
Hootsuite is the enterprise incumbent: broad platform coverage, social listening, team permissions and compliance features, priced per user per month.
We make this comparison as a competitor, so read it with that in mind. Everything below is checked against Hootsuite’s own published pricing, and the sections where Hootsuite is the better choice are real ones — not throat-clearing.
Who each one is for
Choose Hootsuite if…
Larger organisations that need social listening, formal approval chains, compliance and audit trails, and have the budget for them. Its enterprise feature set is well beyond ours.
Choose Optimate if…
Small businesses and agencies who found Hootsuite's per-seat pricing hard to justify for what they actually use.
Pricing side by side
Each product is shown in the currency it actually bills in. We deliberately don’t convert these into one currency — the rate moves, and a converted figure would misrepresent what Hootsuite charges.

Where Hootsuite is the better choice
These are real limitations of Optimate, not softened ones. If any of them is a dealbreaker for you, Hootsuite is the right answer.
Social listening Optimate simply doesn't have
Monitoring brand mentions and conversations across the web is a core Hootsuite capability on its higher tiers and is not something Optimate does at all. If listening is a requirement, this comparison ends here.
Enterprise governance
Formal approval chains, permissions, compliance and audit trails are mature in Hootsuite and built for organisations that need to prove who published what. Optimate has client approval with history, which is a smaller, simpler thing.
Nearly two decades of operation
Hootsuite has been running since 2008 with the support organisation and platform relationships that implies. For a risk-averse buyer that is a legitimate reason to choose it.
Where Optimate is the better choice
The price gap is very large
Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user per month at annual billing. Optimate Pro is £29/month for the workspace, and Optimate does not meter seats at all. For a five-person team the difference runs to thousands a year.
There is a free tier to evaluate on
Hootsuite has no free plan, so evaluating means a trial or a purchase. Optimate's free tier covers 3 profiles and 5 AI generations indefinitely.
AI content is the product, not an add-on
Both generate posts with AI. Optimate is built around a per-brand kit that keeps voice consistent without re-prompting, which is a different proposition from a generate button next to a composer.
Common questions
Why is Hootsuite so much more expensive?
It is aimed at a different buyer. Hootsuite's price carries social listening, enterprise governance, compliance tooling and an established support organisation. If you need those, the price is defensible. Most small businesses do not use them, which is the gap Optimate is built for.
Can Optimate replace Hootsuite for an enterprise?
Honestly, usually not yet. If you rely on social listening, formal compliance workflows or audit trails, Optimate does not currently match Hootsuite and you should stay. Optimate is a credible replacement for teams using Hootsuite mainly to schedule, create and report.
Does Optimate charge per seat like Hootsuite?
No. Optimate prices per workspace and does not meter seats, so adding a colleague does not change the bill. Hootsuite's headline prices are per user, per month, at annual billing.
